761697 2009-04-02 08:37:00 Yea but there is a recession on. While the "best" options might be;
1. Build your own
2. Get a PC shop to build it for you
3. Dell
4. The rest of them
- based on Adeyes comments maybe best to skip "1" and then it depends on how many $$ you have, you can get a lot of Dell for $2K screen included

You can get a lot of a lot of PC for that price!

Heck, you could probably get 4850+a fast dual core or a quad core!

if you get dell you'd prob be looking at this model:
www1.ap.dell.com

RAM and CPU are nice(very unoverclockable thought!), but graphics card is sh1t for the price IMO

761698 2009-04-02 11:17:00 In the end I took it to the shop and asked them if they could make it better ,sooooh!
they are going to install 2x 1gb ram and whip in 500gb hdd for the photographs so lets wait and see what happens.
Many thanks for your help one and all. A

Some people will never learn.

Hey adeye - hope you're set up for backups of all these new photos or your SWMBO might have something to say to you about your shared PC. See earlier threads!!

761702 2009-04-02 23:27:00 It will take up quite a few DVDs to backup all the data on a nearly full 500 Gb drive. :waughh:

Don't use DVD-RWs.

761703 2009-04-03 01:29:00 Bit late now, but if you're looking for a small runabout-type PC with no whizz-bang stuff, for a nice price, you might like the Asus Eee PC. Does the usual stuff (emails, internet, etc), although the screen is kinda small.

Cheap though.

The EEE box is even better if you don't need a laptop

Actually-for that price you could build a reasonably fast AMD machine.
But, I do like the small form factor(and the VESA mound:D)

761706 2009-04-06 01:35:00 I'm just wondering what a 'real' PC is? sammo450 (13626)
