858441 2010-02-15 01:50:00 Less mainstream items do usually cost more here in NZ and can prove hard to get. Its all about economies of scale.

Things like mainstream CPU's, Ram, hard drives aren't usually worth bringing in as they are volume items here and the savings are minimal.

858443 2010-02-15 09:06:00 I recently wanted to buy TrackIR5 and trackclip pro.
First an e-mail to Ascent. They couldn't supply.
I then tried the NZ agent. They have a good web page and seemed promising. So I emailed them, THREE TIMES, and I'm still waiting for a reply.
I then e-mailed PCAviator in Melbourne. I had a reply within 10 minutes. I ordered the items. Within 10 minutes I received their acknowledgement and acceptance.
Exactly seven days later the items were in my letterbox.
Now I receive my credit card bill. The total price including airmail was about $12 dollars cheaper the the advertised NZ price which didn't include delivery.
As the total price was about $300 I didn't have to pay duty or GST, which I liked!
So in future I'll be looking at Ozy for small purchases.

$300 is about $36NZ for import tax (12.5%), it is under $50 therefore it is not payable.

I been trying to get hold of a lightbox to view transparency film, all the shops don't have them and no plans to import them in, even the pro shops but then the odd one have them for $600 when a top of the line used Canon or Nikon film SLR might be that price on Trademe or eBay

Not really common on Trademe either cos I would of thought many would of wanting to rid their lightboxes now we are in digital age. Certainly there are heaps of slide projectors practically given away at single digit auctions.

I've been shooting digital, tried slide film and got hooked.

858445 2010-02-15 10:57:00 I've recently bought nature DVDs and others from BBCShop.
I have found them to be very good.
Although some of their stuff is Region 2

TrackIR 5 is excellent for flight sim. Much better than the earlier versions. I am realy growing to like it. It is not so sensative to extraeous light and is much easier to keep centred.
If you buy it, make sure you get Track Clip pro too.

858448 2010-02-15 20:19:00 Back in 2006 I bought Jeff Waynes War Of The Worlds DVD from the UK. All up with air freight it cost $75 NZ. It was released in NZ 6 months later and you could buy it from the Warehouse for about $32.
