763619 2009-04-09 12:34:00 Just wondering what brands people use/prefer for optical discs for backup, creating music discs etc
CDR, DVD-R, DVD+R ... etc etc

I personally use Imation (CD-R) and Sony (DVD+R)
Have been known to use TDK as well

763621 2009-04-09 12:42:00 I don't really use discs except for creating OS/bootable discs, when I did back up I used Imation DVD+R Blam (54)
763622 2009-04-09 12:58:00 I've used Princo cd's/dvdr+ and -'s / SKC cdr's / HP lightscribe cdr's.

No probs at all. All work fine and havent had any coasters

Altho, I havent used any blanks for a while. If I need to back up, I just copy install files to another hdd on another system, through the network

Hey Speedy, coasters are good! They are essential in the modern vegetable garden . Suspended on fine string, they turn and sparkle in the slightest breeze and scare the hell out of the birds tryng to eat my prizewinning tomatoes!

763627 2009-04-10 21:19:00 Been using Verbatim and Sony after researching about discs. And burning a few at different speeds and checking for errors with NeroDiscSpeed and KProbe.Have found that my Pioneer drive does best around 10x for music as well as data, after burning music for years at the slowest possible speed.
