2010-02-17 19:00:00 My Logitech wireless mouse seems to have stopped working. It is not the batteries. The setpoint software knows about it because it says the batteries are good (and I know they are because I just changed them). It just doesn't do anything. The green power LED shines underneath, but not the tracking light. I've tried reconnecting. It is part of a wireless mouse/keyboard combo. My question is: If I just buy another mouse, will it work with same receiver? Obviously a bluetooth one won't, but will an "ordinary" one? I don't want (a) to have to buy another keyboard or (b) have another receiver sticking out the back of the PC (if I can avoid it). Tony (4941)
2010-02-17 19:16:00 Are you positive its the mouse playing up ?

I've seen many times wireless crap out, then you need a wired one attached to fix the corrupted system files, then the wireless goes again.

2010-02-17 19:46:00 Well, I'm reasonably certain. The keyboard, which uses the same receiver, works OK, and I've just installed Win7 multi-booting with Vista, and I get the same thing happen on both OS. I reinstalled the setpoint software also, although I realize that is not the actual drivers. The fact that the same thing happens on each OS seems quite a good indication. I suppose it could be some component of the receiver, but that seems unlikely. Also the fact that I can't get the tracking light on the mouse to shine also points in that direction. Tony (4941)

2010-02-18 00:28:00 You dont need setpoint. Youre not using other wireless keyboards apart from this one are you? Because they'll conflict with each other. I was going to use setpoint. But since we've got 2 wireless mice / kb's. I could secure this one, but couldnt secure the other. And the one that didnt have setpoint installed on it had probs. So, I removed it Speedy Gonzales (78)
2010-02-18 00:54:00 I realize setpoint isn't vital, but I installed it just to see if it made a difference. I don't have another wireless keyboard. I do have another wireless mouse, but that is bluetooth - and it works OK if I plug it into the problem machine. Tony (4941)
2010-02-18 01:16:00 Could try contacting Logitech for a replacement? Their support is generally very good. inphinity (7274)
2010-02-18 02:47:00 Could try contacting Logitech for a replacement? Their support is generally very good.Could be worth a try - but the unit is reasonably old (>2 years), and I can't lay my hands on any proof of purchase. Tony (4941)
2010-02-18 02:55:00 Did you press the button on the receiver and the mouse?? Since you replaced them? Speedy Gonzales (78)
2010-02-18 03:38:00 Good point. I just tried it, and the light flashed on the receiver and I got the "Press connect/reset" notification message on the screen. When I pressed the button on the mouse, the green LED on the underneath went out, but it never managed to connect. Interestingly, the other wireless mouse from my laptop that I have been using will connect with that receiver, as well as with its own. So I think that points again to a problem with the mouse.
