2010-02-17 07:53:00 | During the summer I noticed my no1 system winding up the fans to compensate for the hot days. So I have splashed out on a more moden case with 120mm front & rear fans to keep the noise & heat under control. The 2 fans that came with it are fairly quiet but are only 2 wire Molex & are as such are not compatible with my speed controller which has the smaller 3 pin 3 wire conections. Have been researching 120mm fans but are uncertain which type & rev range to get. My controller has a 3 speed function. With the previous 80mm fans the digital rpm readout for the 3 speeds was 2100 2500 & 2700. I dont know how accurate that is either. Also, most of the 120mm fans I see on the net are either 2 wire with a Molex or same with a extra sensor wire.

2010-02-17 08:00:00 | I put a 500 ohm variable resistor pot on my graphics card fan to reduce the noise level to barely audible. It made no difference to the temp of the GPU regardless of load. That's using the Catalyst control centre temp. You can do the same for case fans | Phil B (648) | |
2010-02-17 08:34:00 | Its not adaptors I need, It's getting fans with 3 wires so I can control the speed. Most of the time this system is at idle but occationaly I will have a session on FSX which makes it work a bit harder. The CPU & GPU fans wind up on their own but then the case fans need to work a bit harder too. The controller I have will sense the temp in the case & wind them up accordingly.

2010-02-17 08:39:00 | there is a fan made by cooler master called Sickle Flow. It is 120mm and uses a 3 pin fan connector and runs at 2000 rpm | nedkelly (9059) | |

Yes, you can use the adapter so you can use your molex fan on the fan controller. And yes too for the Sickleflow. They're quiet decent fans when undervolted. Have two on my Megahalems. |
