Hi all, I asked about this problem 18 months ago & still have had no luck in solving it. I had Windows XP o/s at that time & as I couldn't come up with a fix decided to leave it & hope when I installed Windows7 all would be ok, NO SUCH LUCK. The problem is when I plug in a USB device a notice comes up "This device can run faster connected to a 2.0 port" When I look in device manager there is a yellow triangle beside "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB host controller" "This device cannot start-code 10." I have tried all the obvious things like uninstall drivers, let Windows reload drivers, check ports for damage, unpluged front USB ports, turn off at the wall for 30mins.etc. The M/B is a Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5, I have reinstalled the chipset drivers with the CD that came with the M/B a couple of times, updated the Bios to F6 from F2 & still no luck, ( I tried all this before Windows7 ) Anybody struck this & come up with a fix? Thanks for any suggestions. |

Look in the BIOS and make sure the USB is on the higher speed. If this is / was XP, was SP2 / SP3 installed? Delete all of the USB entries in device manager, then reboot |

Did you do an upgrade to Win7 or did you format and install from scratch? |

MM did you set the settings in the BIOS to the defaults, (after you flashed it), then reconfigure the BIOS?? Is USB controller mode in the BIOS on hispeed (not full speed)? |

That's a YES to all those Speedy. After trying for 18mts. with no result, I was wondering if there is a card I could install that would bypass the M/B usb & give me usb 2.0, just a thought. |

Take it back and replace it. I had a similar prob but with firewire. No matter what I tried the onboard FW wouldnt work. In the end I took it back, the shop couldnt fix it either. BUT in the end somehow they killed the whole thing lol |
