859254 2010-02-16 21:21:00 I have an Access form with several free-text fields and a combo box. All of these controls are bound to the same query.

The combo box gets its dropdown values by querying another table.

Every field *except* the combo box can be changed - if I try to change the value in the combo box, it won't allow me to do so.

How can I set the combo box to allow me to change its value, and have that value reflected in the database?

Thanks,
Erayd

Hi Donread - thanks for taking the time to help :).

Unfortunately, this isn't what I'm after. I'm not wanting to add new entries to the combo box - I just want to be able to select a different value off the list.

At present, it seems to be stuck on whatever item it's currently on, and while I can see all the other options, I can't choose any of them.

859257 2010-02-17 06:15:00 Well, that sounds like the 'On, or is it After update event' or simply therecord scource.
I would re make the Combo Box, using the Wizard.

Have look at some of the ready made Dbs or templates, that are offered by Access when choose New Access Data base in Office, there is bound to be a Combo doing simmilar to your intention.

I would re make the Combo Box, using the Wizard.Tried that, no joy - the wizard basically just did what I'd done manually the first time around anyway.

to add to previous.
Try www.rogersaccesslibrary.com there a particular example you think I should look at? Judging by the titles, none of them seem to be applicable.

859260 2010-02-17 20:41:00 Never mind - solved it. Turned out my problem wasn't related to the combo box at all - one of my SELECT statements was accidentally getting a field from the wrong table (and that field is immutable), however as it had the same name I didn't notice. As a result, I couldn't change the field using the combo box.

Donread - thanks for your help :).
