| 859263 | 2010-02-16 20:13:00 | Windows XP computer was infected ran scan with hard drive as slave on another machine put the hard drive back in the original machine boots to the logon screen click on user - starts loading individual settings then logs off and returns back to logon page. can someone help me get past the logon. |

The reg entry may be looking for c:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe instead of c:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe. What you may need to do is boot from a Bootable CD that allows you to run regedit, then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon and modify the "Userinit" key to read C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe |
