| 764339 | 2009-04-14 01:21:00 | An Online business like trademe could be classed slightly different - for most of the time its computers doing the work (apart from if theres a stuff up - then it takes more than two computers  ) so its all automated. The law couldn't state all computer related services/Businesses have to close/shutdown. Hell its bad enough now - One or two days the shops shut and all the supermarkets go NUTS with people buying before those days. When the original Law was implemented,I'm sure online businesses were not even about - so along those lines, maybe the law needs to revamped or something. Edited: I can remember when shops on Sunday were always shut with Half days on Saturday. |

Everyone's gotta have a break sometime, thats the whole point of a public holiday. Edit - Public. Pubic holiday has some bad connotations. :p |

| 764343 | 2009-04-14 02:14:00 | I wasn't paid for either Friday or Sunday (only two days we shut). They were my normal shifts. Had to work Saturday (no time + a half) but Monday I did however get time and a half. | --Wolf-- (128) | ||

Yea that's what I'm saying, if it was say Christmas then you would have been paid as normal even though you had a day off. |

| 764345 | 2009-04-14 02:27:00 | Yip, Christmas day last year was my normal shift and I was paid for it. I think New Years Day we shut and I was paid for that as well. Stupid how Easter is different. Saturday should've been time and a half too imo, I know it's not a public holiday but it's in between 3 other public holidays. |

| 764346 | 2009-04-14 02:33:00 | Sunday wasn't a public holiday. You should have been paid for Friday if it would have otherwise been a normal working day. It's up to you to get some balls and tell your boss to go **** himself if he refuses to pay you. |

| 764347 | 2009-04-14 03:00:00 | If Sunday wasn't a public holiday then why was everything closed? Tell my boss to go **** himself? Um, no thanks. I work at Pak N Sav. Huge place. Lots of employees. Me saying something to him won't make him pay hundreds of people. |

It's up to you to get some balls and tell your boss to go **** himself if he refuses to pay you. Umm yea Sunday was a Public Holiday. That's what I was saying in my earlier post, Easter seems to be different to the rest of the public holidays and they don't have to pay you if it would have been a normal working day for you. Not sure what the exact law says, I'm just repeating what my brother was telling me the other day. He works at Harvey Norman and the sales people, who would normally have worked on Sunday, did not get paid and had to take it as annual leave if they did want to be paid something. |
