| 763804 | 2009-04-10 11:52:00 | its hard to tell, but the tubes should be fine if a little overdriven its hard to blow cold cathode tubes with too much voltage, the high voltage is mainly to strike the arc and the lamp pulls the voltage down to a few hundred volts and the inverters cant supply more than what is put into them so most flouro tubes should be fine with whatever is applied to the terminals So you're saying I can get away with no capacitor there at all? |

| 763805 | 2009-04-10 14:08:00 | So you're saying I can get away with no capacitor there at all? yes but be careful about it you risk blowing the inverter or its fuse maybe earlier than usual, but if the inverter draws less than 0.4 - 1 amp it should be fine put a capacitor in there that gives sufficient brightness while not drawing too much current |

I'd be nervous. The transistors are rated to 1A, but the transformer I'm not sure about. Agent_24, you are right indeed :). I should have said I haven't got the knowledge OR equipment to replace whatever SMD IC was blown :D. Also, these things are failing like crazy so it would probably just happen again. |
