764394 2009-04-13 21:56:00 The mighty Levin.. :p

Long trips I get aroud 6.5l/100km. (36MPG?)

Around town it's more like 8.5l/100km. (26MPG?)

Very happy with the economy really, considering I don't try to drive it gently.

764395 2009-04-13 22:06:00 My Skyline get about 14091.75 furlongs per hogshead. porkster (6331)

Around 7l/100k on a trip, 7.7 average (round town, mostly), 8.5 with a lead foot, 10+ if you thrash it.

764397 2009-04-14 00:06:00 Peugeot 307 1.6 TDI I drove in Europe a couple of years ago would do 5L/100km at 180km/h (on the Autobahn!). Would do 1300km on one tank of diesel (if you had a really light right foot), but usually was about 900km range...

Eurolease ftw?

I had the 407 model. I seem to recall that diesel was twice as expensive as in NZ, but we got twice the fuel efficiency. It worked out to be about the same $/km as driving in NZ

764398 2009-04-14 00:23:00 Depends - the Lancer does about 550kms on a full tank (60L) but the Corvette works out to about 20 miles per gallon. The best economy was on my BMW F650CS - that would do about 31kms per litre - I got banned from entering our club's economy run as it won every year for three in a row! Beemer (6956)

Eurolease indeed!! Heaps cheaper than renting a car - and it's a brand-new vehicle on pick-up, guaranteed!

On my trip, diesel was about 4c (Euro cents) cheaper than petrol per litre, but the extra distance you got out of a litre of diesel more than made up for the inconvenience of oily hands when filling up.

Even now I don't believe there is a significant difference in the pump price of diesel and petrol in Europe. But then they don't have the damn ridiculous Road User Charges tax that all diesel car/van owners in NZ have to pay for the privilege of driving a fuel efficient vehicle....

764400 2009-04-14 01:57:00 My Commodore is 3.8L V6 w\ supercharger, about 13-16L for 100KM around town, best on a trip was 9.2L. Just did Napier Mahia in the weekend, got 11.7L per 100KM for a windy road so was happy with that. SolMiester (139)
764401 2009-04-14 06:01:00 Spoke to a bloke over Easter (He must be rich). He took his 2.7 million dollar boat from Whitianga up to the Bay of Islands and back and it chewed up $700 worth of fuel. It sure makes my car sound economical. Bantu (52)
764402 2009-04-14 06:06:00 Taking a large boat out is like pouring money into a hole, they chew through so much fuel it's not funny.

Over a long weekend fishing and generally buggering around in the sounds with a 220hp outboard we went through over $350 of fuel. Great fun though.
