2009-04-09 22:01:00 | The Comet? Didn't that replace the Shackleton? And then get replaced by the Shackleton - three times? Now used as the worlds most sensitive traffic-light detector. Just how do they work out the rules for daylight saving in inter-galactic cruisers? There ought to be a Government Department monitoring progress for us.

2009-04-09 22:06:00 | Daylight saving? What about having a "night" for starters? Or a "day" as I guess it is always dark outside on a spaceship in the middle of nowhere .... | Jen (38) | |

2009-04-09 23:48:00 | Windows in a spaceship are a dumb idea. They add a penalty to the hull integrity that needs to be engineered around. How d you engineer around the blue screen of death?

The Giant Talking Head makes an order in council. Quite right about night and day but it would be a stink space story if you couldnt see the ships just a black screen and some narrative. |

2009-04-11 03:55:00 | Windows in a spaceship are a dumb idea. They add a penalty to the hull integrity that needs to be engineered around. Star Trek sorted this (the movie where they went back in time - to present day-ish - to save a whale) - they use a transparent alloy for windows...

2009-04-11 08:34:00 | It continually amazes me that even really old windows automatically correct for daylight saving. | R2x1 (4628) | |
2009-04-11 09:36:00 | There could even be a inter galactic rule for meeting space ships to orientate like the give way rule on planet earth for vehicles going up a hill. Or like Naval rules where the junior space ship captain orientates to the the space captain with most seniority. No engineering problems with space ship windows they sorted that out on the DH Comet only problem is how to keep the outside clean from space dirt and maybe space seagull doo doo. What are the chances of any spaceships ever seeing another ship? Space is so big, and there would be so few ships out there proportionally that there wouldn't be any need for give way rules at all. And at the speeds they'd travel if there was an accident then the chances would be that you'd never see them coming. Sorry to make this logical all of a sudden. I tend to do that.
