763127 2009-04-15 03:29:00 There are still many NZ Co managers who dont consider their UNSOLICITED mass
email marketing as spam. Ive had to tell my previous 2 bosses that their idea's
were definitely spam, only the possibilty of a Blacklisting changed their mind.
I've often advised against this sort of thing over the phone by people wanting advice on setting up MS Office for mass mailouts.

Perhaps we also need a similar law for fax spam.

Last year there was a company advertising mass email marketing schemes on the radio. I guess some Major radio stations have no scruples either.

763128 2009-04-15 04:18:00 I have (finally) been able to get confirmation from a second company which has sent me spam, that they have purchased an email list from a NZ firm, which they were promised contained 1) business email address, 2) email address of people who had given permission for their addresses to be given to a 3rd party.

Both companies which sent spam to me apologised profusely for sending the messages, and were co-operative in providing me with information about where they sourced their email lists. They had both received plenty of abuse from other email recipients by the time I called.

The company selling the email lists is Image Marketing Group Ltd, also known as "Image", or "Image Marketing". If you are a business considering buying lists from them, be warned that they contain addresses for people who have not given permission to receive them.

YOu are best to make any complaint to the Dept of Internal affairs, as they handle the policing of the law. If there is a company selling addresses harvested from a whois lookup, then the dept of internal affairs may prosecute them, and the fine can be juge.
