| 763021 | 2009-04-08 04:19:00 | I'm quite interested in hacking. All I've learned about it has been from reading various bits'n pieces. I'm more into hacking consumer electronics (eg homebrew on PSP, PS3, xbox, etc), however I do take interest in the software side as well (I mamaged to find out how to change the message of the day at CPIT). Before I give you some pointer sites, I will say this. Hacking can be fun, but as it has been pointed out, quite potentially illegal. You can uncover some quite private information. This is what differetiates 'white-hat' hackers and 'black-hat' hackers. White hat means you find a bug or hole or whatever, then tell the people who made the software/whatever about it, and maybe how to fix it, etc. Black hat means you exploit the hole for your own personal gain (eg stealing bank details). I do make an exception for game consoles though (running your own software on it, not stealing online gaming passwords though). Look at what it did for the xbox. OK, some good places to start are www.hackaday.com and www.hackthissite.org . The latter is really only if you know what you're doing, but you can google the answers for some of the missions, which explains the workings behind it too. |
