765991 2009-04-17 14:40:00 They are screwed.

But piracy was never meant to be big business, ruins it for everyone, If they make themselves the largest target then what did they expect?

765994 2009-04-17 22:18:00 Not at all Surprised - maybe some people who say it wont happen to me "may" just look and say - maybe it could and might. wainuitech (129)
765995 2009-04-17 22:51:00 It's far from over - could well be over-turned in a higher court. Hard to see how they are breaking swedish law as they aren't hosting the files. Won't close the site either way. Twelvevolts (5457)
765996 2009-04-17 23:07:00 unlike Napster used to - TPB doesn't actually host the files that people are getting.

The whole point is as per that article
the site hosts "torrent" links to TV, film and music files held on its users' computers.
So what the music /movies companies are saying is TPB are providing a means to get pirated material, and thats where the "confusion" is.

Bit like saying if you go and buy a car, then go nuts running people over - hardly the Car Dealers fault.

Agree - and Google does exactly the same thing, hosts links to copyrighted material, so the ruling actually should logically lead to the prosecution of Google as well.

765998 2009-04-18 00:09:00 I suppose that technically in law, to (knowingly) provide the
means to break the law is to Aid and Abet. This was probably
the basis of the case for the prosecucutor.
We will have to see how the appeal results.
