| 765213 | 2009-04-15 07:30:00 | He was in the US Navy for all his sentient life and this has really gotten him going nuts-o: New pirate attack against US ship | Pirates failed to seize a US cargo ship off the coast of Somalia, in the latest of a spate of attacks in the area. LINK (news.bbc.co.uk) His reason? He thinks the recently elected guy in the WH has let the military slip to a new low. Pirates were all handled in the War of The Barbary Pirates, a long time ago he feels and this new-gentler US edifice is gonna bring the ruin to his icons, avatars and idols. PS: we don't share the same ideas, ideals or ideological platforms either. |

| 765214 | 2009-04-15 08:24:00 | Actually, if it is the same incident I heard of last night, then I think the Navy did a brilliant job. Sure 3 pirates, probably still only teenagers are now dead, but the buggers were stopped very efficiently. Seems they got a bit stroppy and fired a tracer round across the navy vessel. Perhaps they didn't know, but there were 3 snipers with a bead on each of them, and once the capt gave the go ahead, these three pirates were all brought down similtaneously with a single shot to each of them. Given that the marksmen were on a moving ship, and they were firing at moving targets abourd a bouncing craft - well I think they did a great job to 'excise' the bad guys and save the civilian - all within the blink of an eye and without any mistakes. These pirates have been getting away with too much for too long. It was about time there was some form of resistance applied to their activities. |

Pirates have vowed revenge for the deaths of three colleagues at the hands of U.S. snipers rescuing Capt. Richard Phillips, as well as for two others slain by French forces in a separate rescue last week. Pirates have attacked 78 ships this year, hijacking 19 of them. About 17 ships with more than 300 crew still remain in pirates’ hands. Lets see now. How many of these are American? Or have American Captains? Or have OIL? None? Oh well, there you go then. |

| 765216 | 2009-04-15 10:11:00 | Bit premature to blame Barack Obama for anything, the mess he has inherited from bush jnr will take years to put right, if ever, how can Obama be blamed for anything at the moment, he hasn't had time to do much and with the memory of the bush fiasco anything he does could only be an improvement. America is in such disrepute because of the antics of the G.O.P. that I doubt anyone's opinion of the USA could be influenced in the negative direction by anything the new President might do. In the last 10 years or so America has descended to a new low on the world stage. |
