765135 2009-04-14 22:30:00 I had to take SWMBO out for tea for our 30th last night. Took her to a very fancy restaurant with excellent food.:drool I inadvertently did step into the poo (again) : when I checked what kind of gifts to give on a 30th most of the info pointed towards pearls and diamonds. So I got her something pearly, only to be told no, it should have been diamonds. B*gger. It's not as if SWMBO has a shortage of diamonds (or gold stuff, for that matter). Shows you how easy it is to "slip up".

I thought I would be in for a bit of luck as well but that idea evaporated quite quickly due to the above "mistake".:crying LOL. Well, next year I will hopefully remember and make up for my faux pas this year.

LOL

765137 2009-04-14 22:45:00 Great stuff....well done sarel...30 years...quite an accomplishment in today's society..you must be a great listener! SolMiester (139)
765138 2009-04-14 22:55:00 Solmeister - yessss, that I am. SWMBO caught me out early in the married life still reading the paper while she did the talking. I made the fatal mistake to ask a bit later one evening about a friend, not remembering that she discussed the ins and outs of said friend earlier (while I read the paper). Since that day, I put everything down when SWMBO wants to talk, I ask questions, but in most cases I just listen. Hey, with my leaky memory I have to listen frickin well so that I can remember at least 50% of the conversation.

Thanks guys

765139 2009-04-14 23:04:00 It will be our 30th in another 3 years.

The last thing I'd want is diamonds.
They're common and artifically price inflated. And pointless.

We normally go out for dinner although we missed the last 2 times, one year being we had to buy a new hot water cylinder right then. So we got to stay home and pull up chairs and admire it for the evening instead.

For "special" anniversaries, I'd just want to make sure it was a really good restaurant......not really a need for presents. Well unless he felt the need to buy me some really yummy piece of hardware.......a G19 comes to mind. Hmmm.....

Would you prefer an HTC Touch Diamond then?

765141 2009-04-14 23:20:00 Congratulations on your 30th, sarel. Couple more years 'til my 25th....then I might be let out on a good behaviour bond...

Always enjoy reading pctek's comments as above. Nice to know there ARE some more sensible women out there, my SWMBO is of the same mind, thankfully!

 Just goes to show, the gift should always suit the recipient!
Congratulations to you and your wife, Sarel. What did she buy you?
I was given some beautiful earrings years ago. Have only worn them a couple of times. But the gift was a special one, so I do treasure them.

765143 2009-04-15 00:02:00 Congrats Sarel, and of course, Mrs Sarel.

SWMBO and I reached our 40th anniversary last year. Been good times and bad times but worth the work that is needed to stay together.

Personally, I found the 2 words "yes Dear" to work pretty well :p

Ken

PS, Looks like you were right with the pearls, going by johcars list!

See, I told you, her books told her diamonds. B*gger.

SWMBO got me a very nice CD of The TEN Tenors.
