860711 2010-02-22 21:44:00 I was curious to see how much bandwidth COD MW2 used on my PC. So I installed a little app called Sha Plus Bandwidth Meter. Needless to say COD MW2 gobbles bandwidth.
What suprised me was the amount of bandwidth my PC is using when I'm not doing anything.

The only net apps I have open are MSN Messenger, Skype and Avast. Is it normal for a PC to use around 5mb per 5 minutes resting?

860713 2010-02-22 23:27:00 ooops..it's megabytes. supersi (8401)
860714 2010-02-22 23:29:00 Yeah wouldn't surprise me.

CODMW2 uses jack all bandwidth. Honestly around 3-4KB/sec wouldn't surprise me unless you're hosting.

You'll have MSN sending ping packets back and forth to keep NAT alive, Skype will be an even bigger user I'd *guess*, but not sure there. Don't forget there's the likes of other updaters such as Google, Adobe, AntiVirus and the likes which all use bandwidth.

I recently installed Adobe Acrobat Pro Trial on my laptop. Jumped on 3G that afternoon to do some stuff while waiting for a client to finish their previous meeting, 15 minutes later and found it'd done 250MB worth of updates for the @%#$ software. I was *pissed* ...

860715 2010-02-22 23:31:00 8Kbit (Shown usually with a lower-case "b") is 1KByte (upper-case b), as there's 8 bits in 1 byte.

So in my example before of 3-4KB/sec, it translates to 32Kb/sec.. again, it's SFA bandwidth for a game ;)
