860561 2010-02-22 05:51:00 I have a hard drive here that has come out of a dead laptop.
Hard drive is fine I just need step by step instructions on how to extract the emails from it.

Can anyone help please?

Its Outlook Express running Win XP on the laptop.

Outlook express operates on *.dbx.

How would I do that?

I do not have this path on the hard drive, it goes.

860566 2010-02-22 06:20:00 So it looks as if the computer did have Outlook then. Search for a outlook.pst file.

You can transfer this file to the new hard drive and import it into Outlook.

860567 2010-02-22 06:38:00 I found the files I need old dbx files from a even older installation that was backed up on the hard drive.

How do I specify my outlook to look in a certain place to import dbx? it does not give me a choice.

860568 2010-02-22 06:46:00 Do you have hidden files and folders "shown" enabled? Just checking. narutophantom (12610)
