764826 2009-04-15 10:13:00 An air gun is not a firearm nor is a crossbow. Possibly due the fact there is no combustion and subsequent gas expansion of cordite or black powder to send the bullet on its merry way.
The new law would have to say something like firearms and compressed gas weapons.
To add crossbow would be blardy difficult not sure what grandiose description the bureaucrats would come with but it would something like spring weapon lol.
Just remember guns dont kill people, people kill people.
Do we really need more laws all time?

764827 2009-04-16 00:16:00 You won't be saying that if someone kills you with a crossbow tomorrow. --Wolf-- (128)
764828 2009-04-16 00:32:00 Quite true I would be dead and its hard to say anything when you are dead. prefect (6291)

I'm guessing he won't be saying ANYTHING if he were dead.

764831 2009-04-16 02:16:00 I you start restricting slug/ bb guns and crossbows where do you stop.
I have a crossbow under my bed before arms act change I had a shottie. But shottie nowadays isn't much use by. By the time I got my hidden key made it to my gun locker in the wardrobe unlocked it and retrieved ammo loaded it would be too late.
I can reach under bed grab crossbow load it in a few seconds. Makes me sleep like a log knowing I have some choices with intruders. And I am breaking no laws of our fair land.

764832 2009-04-16 06:00:00 At least you both caught on.

When we see people robbing places with crossbows, do you think they'll then make them illegal? Just because they aren't as intimidating (maybe, haven't had one pointed at me) or whatever as a gun doesn't mean they can't be as dangerous/fatal.

to late. slug/BB guns are restricted.
there have been a few deaths due to crossbows. as of yet they are not restricted but i could see that being changed. the big reason bows and cross bows are not restricted is they are harder to use than rifles, slow to load, can't be left loaded for long periods and have limited range.
crossbows can be carried loaded which is why bow clubs don't like them and if they start being a problem i suspect they will be treated as firearms.
