765443 2009-04-16 06:05:00 A while back I disabled our network adapter, and forgot to enable it again :o.

Booted the computer up the next morning and windows said that I had changed my hardware and had to re-activate windows. Anyway, our broadband was down at the time and I had to ring Microsoft :groan:

In the end it all turned out sweet :)

Yeah thats what Ive been doing in the past, its the "Let me choose which to download and which to install" type option.

Thats great, but problem is Im getting married & moving outta home in a few weeks, and there's a network here of ~10+ devices that need updates manually downloaded every other week ;)

hey Chill - if you want to stop IE8 auto downloading simply go to This MS Download (www.microsoft.com) - run the tool and IE8 will not auto install.

Thanks mate, I'll grab that and give it a whirl, still unsure about the Office / Windows WGA cr@p though :-/

765445 2009-04-16 21:22:00 When I created a hardware profile on my netbook, on reboot XP wanted reactivation. :stare: It activated fine, though.

The only time I had to reactivate Vista was when I reinstalled. :D
