I am using Xnet world exchange for all our tolls and local calling at present but still have to pay landline charges to telecom.
Any Ideas please.

767618 2009-04-22 21:38:00 If you are already with Xnet why not move to their Fusion package?
It is naked DSL which means that you don't pay Telecom for you landline, everything is done through Xnet.

We use Xnet's VFX service here at work for two phone lines and it works great.
Only problem is if the internet is down then the phones don't work!
You can however set up a call forward to another land line or whatever so that if your internet connection is down you can still receive calls.

767621 2009-04-23 01:00:00 I've been using Fusion for around a year, the only problem has been a small girl "helping" by re-setting all the modem parameters. (I would not recommend using a one letter user-name and a one letter password.)
The modem shares a UPS with the computer, so everything is happy during power outages.

The whole scheme has worked very well indeed for me, the tiny phone bills are a bonus as are all the features my cheap phone now has.

You need a special router or adapter that has one or two normal RJ-11 phone sockets on it.
You give the MAC address of this device to xnet who then do what they need to do at their end.
You plug a normal phone into the socket and you get given a normal phone number.
You can also port over any existing phone number if you want to keep it the same as before. There is a small charge for this.
It works the same as a normal phone line with free local calling.
The bonus is that to call anywhere else in NZ is only 5c per minute and also to many other countries!
Mobiles are more expensive to call.
It is also free to call anyone else who is using the VFX service anywhere in NZ.
You also get free caller id, voicemail, call waiting etc.
