767548 2009-04-22 11:55:00 3 parts sand and 1 part cement. Add water, smear it on with the back of a spade. The painter can finish it off nicely. :help: R2x1 (4628)

767552 2009-04-22 17:07:00 Unless your tectonic plate is overrun with Corvettes and 1956 Powel trucks, I'd not expect there to be too many Fiberglas® shops in the area .

Have you tried a yacht repair business?

International Yacht Services Ltd . - Whangarei, New Zealand
www . internationalyachtservices . info
Yacht Maintenance, Rigging, Refit Management, Yacht Storage and repair . diesel tank cleaning, Led anchor light,
Pacificpartsexpress - Whangarei, New Zealand
www . internationalyachtservices . info

OR - do you really mean a body repair shop that uses products like Bondo or Sno-White polyester resin filler? That's NOT Fiberglas®, by the way .

This is all I can find: http://www . collisionrepair . co . nz/

They state that they have branches in the following places:

# Northland
# Auckland
# Central North Island
# Hawkes Bay
# Manawatu/Wanganui/Taranaki
# Wellington
# Canterbury/Westland
# Otago/Southland

767553 2009-04-23 00:31:00 SurferJoe, I'm in Christchurch, it would take me about 14hours straight driving to get to Whangarei ;)

I would of thought they'd be alot of fibreglass places around, given the amount of kitted up cars circuiting CHCH . I'll ask around this afternoon

Are the kits not made of fibreglass? I wouldnt know as ive never played with the stuff . The repair looks that simple that I might end up repairing it myself yet .

Unless someone in chch wants a few quick bucks?

767554 2009-04-23 01:09:00 Your local Mitre 10/Repco/Supercheap should have fibreglass repair kits, which give you around 1 sqm of fibreglass matting, and enough resin & hardener to do the job . If the hole isn't too big, you could get some fibre-filler, which is like standard automotive filler (aka 'bog'), but has the fibreglass strands mixed through it . It's used for larger holes, or repairs that are more structural .

It's a right bugger to sand though, as it's blimmin hard! Best approach is to fill the hole leaving a shallow, and then put a skim coat of finer filler over the top to shape down .
