767165 2009-04-22 01:49:00 I d/l'ed an ISO file of a program I needed and burnt it to DVD (as you do) with the hope of installing it from there. Putting the DVD into the DVD reader shows nothing, although you can see that about 75% of the disk has got something burnt to it? I've heard comments about "mounting" it (from the ISO) but that sounds too much like a stallion doing his thing.

Any ideas, more so since I've deleted the d/l'ed file after burning the DVD? And no, no piracy involved - it's a massive file with a few copies of the Bible in different Biblical languages.

767166 2009-04-22 02:04:00 What software did you use to burn the ISO to the DVD?
Did it finalise thes disc?

767167 2009-04-22 02:26:00 As CY asked What ISO writing program did you use.

Theres two I use now - and ones idiot proof (almost) This one here (isorecorder.alexfeinman.com) - the other one I use is BURNCDCC (www.terabyteunlimited.com) - 2nd one down.

The first one you locate the ISO file you have, right click it / copy image to CD ( or DVD) Click next and it does the rest. Example (www.imagef1.net.nz)

You can try to use that program to recreate the image on the DVD - or get the original D/L back, hopefully its in the recycle bin.

767168 2009-04-22 02:43:00 I used ImgBurn - I've been using it now for some time and it alway did a good job. And yes Cyabro, it did finalise, verify, etc.

Will try it tonight Wanui, thx

767169 2009-04-22 04:03:00 I'd try and recover the ISO and mount it. I use Daemon tools lite (www.daemon-tools.cc) (3rd from top, don't worry about the 'buy now', that's only for the lite commercial version).

It puts a small icon in your system tray and a virtual dvd drive in my computer. All windows sees is an empty dvd drive, but using the tray icon you can load ISOs (amony many formats), and it appears in the virtual drive. I use it all the time to set up Virtual Machines. Saves a lot of burning time.

767170 2009-04-22 04:13:00 I thought you need to boot with the . iso in a drive and the bios set to boot from the drive it's in .

I always leave one of my CD-ROM drives as the first boot device and the <hdd> . with the nt files on it third . Leaving the "A-drive" floppy as the second boot device leaves me a few options .

The bios just skips those devices that have nothing in/on them and finally settles on the <hdd>

767171 2009-04-22 04:18:00 That makes no sense.

What?

767172 2009-04-22 04:44:00 Mounting, in my book, means to boot from it before the system is running and right after the bios boot .

Just stick the CD in a drive and hit Windows Key then U and then R . Sit back and watch .

767173 2009-04-22 04:50:00 Dunno 'bout that. I'm refering to mounting an ISO as a virtual disk in a virtual drive, after bootup, login etc. ubergeek85 (131)
767174 2009-04-22 09:27:00 OK. Couldn't see the ISO with the programs that Wainui mentioned, so it probably means I have to d/l them again. Daemon Tools lite shows nada. When I've d/l'ed it again I'll again try all the above.

Damn, two DVD coasters and wasted about 30% bandwith
