861465 2010-02-25 05:16:00 Hey I just turned on one of my old pcs that I have not used so far this year and the only thing that happened was long beeps. Motherboard is a MS 6526 V2 with a P4 of some speed. Any ideas what might be causing it? nedkelly (9059)
861466 2010-02-25 05:19:00 All depends on what beeps exactly.

Generally most beeps are either RAM fail or VGA fail.
But the exact sequence would be helpful.

861469 2010-02-25 05:31:00 The beeps are there to tell you something as in these tables depending on your BIOS.

861470 2010-02-25 05:36:00 Take a look here www.pchell.com This is a list of beep codes from various manufacturers. When PCs arrived here in the early 80's these beeps at POST were used to indicate the health or otherwise of the PC.

Sorry, Sweep got here first.

861472 2010-02-25 05:50:00 Pull it to bits check it / clean it, then put it back together Speedy Gonzales (78)
861473 2010-02-25 05:57:00 I would reseat the video card and the RAM as a start. Sweep (90)
