767094 2009-04-24 08:58:00 In Australia do you see abbos dancing round at every oppourtunity the government gives them? Wanting to rename islands and cities? Featuring on every tourism or travel ad? No...NZ should be the same.

I think the reason for that is that the abbos dont get a chance to have a say, its more go and sit back down on your rock in the middle of the desert and keep your mouth shut

who here likes Midnight Oil?

767097 2009-04-24 12:04:00 Er, my memory is failing, I need enlightening please

An awful lot of things happened in 1961, some people and things I can remember, including the broadcast of Steve Races jazz program which had a contribution by Peter Lesley about Bix Beiderbecke......bixography.com and I sold a Vincent. :banana
Hi Terry P, Peter Cape sang the word 'Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauatamateapokaiwhenuaki tanatahu' in a song on side one of a record he made in 1961. Also on the same side was the 'Inter-Island Steamer Express'. He reckoned it was easier to sing it than say it! :)

Thanks Bob for the info, it was before my time in NZ, but I remember now, they used to play those songs on 'Saturday Scrapbook'.

Then there is Google who told me he also wrote 'Taumaranui on the main trunk line'.
