www.linz.govt.nz try, but in vain, I suspect - actually reading and understanding what is proposed will never be a substitute for blind prejudice and prejudgment.:(

767063 2009-04-22 19:32:00 Nothing I've heard or read sofar from the Board suggests that the current names are going to be dropped just made official. At the same time Maori names are to be considered. But its up to people whether they use the English name or the Maori one.
No amount of correct information seems to influence the views of paranoid racist ranters.

I would define prejudice as an unreasoned bias against someone or something, whereas prejudgement is taking a position on an issue without actually looking at the facts or arguments, although depending on the exact definition you choose, they could overlap.

My, we've come a long way from the names of our islands!

From the fount of all knowledge that is Wikipedia:

"The word prejudice refers to prejudgment: making a decision about, before becoming aware of the relevant facts of, a case or event".

And no, I didn't just edit that in.

And no, I didn't just edit that in.As I said, depending on the definition you choose, there can be overlap. I could, but won't bother to, give definitions of both prejudice and prejudgement that don't overlap.

Enough nit-picking (from everyone)! In the context of the discussion, this is trivial in the extreme.
