766951 2009-04-24 06:14:00 I wonder how much your premiums will be when the insurance company asks you how many times you have been burgled:rolleyes: plod (107)
766952 2009-04-24 07:26:00 Rob that sounds cool where do you get the motion sensors? I have a spare digital camera (from import jap bus reverse camera)

I got my sensors(PIRs) from work, I guess you can get them at most places that sells locks and security related gears.

Its already paid for itself as its avoided one incident.

766953 2009-04-24 07:33:00 You could get something like this (www.nchsoftware.com) and hook up as many cams as you like. This program was on the latest APC mag DVD. And its free.

Only thing is, you have to stay online to install the rest of the files. It also supports motion detection

766954 2009-04-24 07:45:00 I remember a farmer using a PIR with an inbuilt camera that took a photo when movement was sensed and stored it on removable SD memory. Was great for the farmer, he was able to prove that one of his farm workers was stealing petrol. pine-o-cleen (2955)
766955 2009-04-24 07:54:00 Something like this (www.flyonthewall.uk.com D%2522+Covert+CCD+Camera+with+SD+Card+Slot%2522%26 ie%3Dutf-8%26oe%3Dutf-8%26aq%3Dt%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial%26client%3Dfirefox-a). 7th 8th and 9th on that list. pine-o-cleen (2955)
766956 2009-04-24 08:43:00 Haha yeah, premium on insurance wont look good if they did a background check, lol . Still waiting for them to get me a quote . . . .

About those PIR sensors, how do you hook them up to activate upon movement detection? I've never wired up one of these things, so yeah . . . . . Or a possible direction to a site where I can get more instructions?

Though in regards to the PIR, I did set up one of those outdoor flood lights with PIR sensors . Though in preventing intruders, they wont be much help . Atleast its making our area at night bit more visible, unlike before .

Moving would sound great, but we'll need to sell it, then hunt another one . . . all this sounds bit much to do with current workload . Though I now, this is cant be justified if im constantly being robbed .

Thanks speedy for the software suggestions, that app looks really good, might get a few cams and test its functions :P

Yeah being burgled 3x times aint fun, though really I dont think theres much we could do now, I mean all our doors have deadlocks, except for garage, windows are all locked, but really nothing beats a good brick and glass, house is wired and likely to be insured soon . . . so what else could I do really . . .

766957 2009-04-24 08:53:00 Or get wireless (search.dse.co.nz). Then you wont have to wire anything up Speedy Gonzales (78)
766958 2009-04-24 08:57:00 Most PIRs work on the same principle as those lights with built in ones. Some work by heat, some by movement and some by both.

Google has heaps of diagrams, but alot would depend on which model etc you choose. Here is a list of sites for security installers etc
