861486 2010-02-25 07:38:00 What BIOS is on it now? Does the GL looks like yours? Speedy Gonzales (78)
861487 2010-02-25 08:25:00 not sure what is on it now. But im confused, there is a sticker on the motherboard that says pheonix but when I go into BIOS it says Award software. How would I find what is on it now? nedkelly (9059)
861488 2010-02-25 08:31:00 Dont worry about the name of the BIOS. All you need the the version thats on it. It'll either be in the BIOS. Or on the post screen. Press pause to stop it on the post screen, when you reboot Speedy Gonzales (78)

861490 2010-02-25 20:28:00 Hmm I did reply to this it disappeared. I would try another P4 mobo, if you've got one first. And see if the higher CPU works in it. Because if you flash the BIOS and its the wrong one (altho there's only 2 mobos called MS-6526 on the site), it'll kill it.

But it doesnt look like the BIOS you posted is the latest one. And it doesnt match any of the BIOS dates. So, I dont know what version it is! But if you want to flash it go ahead (with the slower CPU first). Then install the other one. If it doesnt work, then its probably dead. Whats the other CPU?? 2.4? 2.8? 3..0?? And whats the FSB (thats written on it)?? 400? 533? 800?

861491 2010-02-25 20:36:00 2.26GHz/512/533 SL6RY. This is what my mate gave me when he gave it to me. nedkelly (9059)
861492 2010-02-25 20:44:00 Ah ok 533 FSB. What kind of ram have you got in the case??

DDR 400? 266? Because, when I had a 2.4 533 FSB CPU (well I've still got it, but I'm not using it, I dont have another P4 mobo), and DDR 400 ram, the computer wouldnt turn on (altho it didnt beep, it just wouldnt go). Until I changed the Freq or the FSB in the BIOS to 266 I think it was. The Freq had to match the FSB of the CPU. Once, I changed it, it was fine
