766509 2009-05-05 12:27:00 I've had an absolute guts full of trademe, mostly because of their brutal success fees. I do have it on good authority that a new player is about to enter the field though. They are [edited].

[edit: blatant self promotion of new website removed]

Sounds too good to be true, but I guess time will tell.

[Mods comment: Yes, you do have it on good authority as you own shares in the company you've *just* heard about - banned for advertising, please read the forum rules - Jen]

766510 2009-05-05 12:36:00 sell me free was the other one you are all thinking of it to didn't make it. Interesting comment Nomad didn't realise that will bear that in mind thanks

I believe sellmefree relied completely on banner advertisers for it's income. Lets be honest, how many people actually click on those banners? If you are paying to have your banner on a site like that and you're not getting the results you want, what's going to happen? you'll pull your advertising and suddenly sellmefree has no income.

Sadly they could have done a lot better if their site looked nicer.

766511 2009-05-05 12:38:00 I think the other one was (and still is) http://www.zillion.co.nz/

Zillion is not a lot cheaper than trademe, they're actually dearer on some things.

I use Zillion to buy books & am very happy with it.

Antony - I'm curious to know what things are dearer on Zillion than TradeMe?
I've not noticed any - but I don't use TradeMe much.
