766292 2009-04-19 11:27:00 Hey im looking for a decent laptop..

Roughly same specs as following:

4gb ram
250gb+ hdd
2.8ghz+ (need a decent processor)
256+ gfx card
wireless card

wanted but uneeded features:
all in one card reader
built in webcam

You won't get a laptop with a 2.8ghz Dual/Quad core for a reasonable price.

And one thing you should keep in mind that memory is not the most important thing for a graphics card, and you should also keep in mind that laptops under 2500 are *never* good for gaming.

Pretty much all modern laptops have wireless cards integrated, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

if someone could find me a laptop on the net(in new zealand) please reply to this thread.

Cheers,
Darryl.

I've found this
qmb.co.nz

and

www.trademe.co.nz

there less than 2200 and better than what Im looking for.

That above one may seem fast, but it actually has a very slow CPU clocked at only 2ghz, which is sufficient but will not last long.

Same with the HP laptop.

Something like this:
www.justlaptops.net.nz

or

www.justlaptops.net.nz

The Qosmio is a good option because it has a VERY fast GFX card for a laptop, offering reasonably performance in games PLUS it gives you the option to go 64bit Vista at no extra cost, which is exactly what you want with a Video card with 1.5gb of dedicated memory and 4gb of RAM to address all that memory.

EDIT:Just saw your post, FORGET about good performance for gaming if you want it to be under 1800.
The best you will get is a 3650 or a 9400M
Look here for gaming performance for laptop GFX:

766294 2009-04-19 12:26:00 I'd say 2000-2500 if you want *decent* gaming performance

766295 2009-04-20 02:58:00 Don't buy computers from TradeMe. ever. Or buy Acers, ever.

I got a nice IBM 380ED for $10. Built like a tank and with 166Mhz CPU slowly but surely chugs along like one. New hard drive, BIOS Battery, and 3Com Ethernet card. Runs Windows 98 SE and perfect for chatting on MSN and playing DOS games in bed :D
