767581 2009-04-22 13:03:00 Hi folks. I know just how rude it is for some pushy new guy to arrive on a forum and start making loud noises. In my own defence, I've been lurking for quite a while but only signed up tonight. Sorry in advance for being the pushy new guy, but I feel this is kinda important to share.

I'm posting this here because, probably like a lot of you, I got started with FreeView by building a PVR and experimenting with various PVR apps. One thing that has annoyed me is the absence of Prime TV. I realised after talking to a number of people that pretty much all PVR builders had the same gripe. As a result, just this past weekend, I created an online petition, asking Sky TV to put Prime on FreeView (as most of you will know, Sky owns Prime).

Anyway, long story short, in the few days since Sunday over 1600 people have signed!!! It turns out that there are lots of people that feel the same way, but have never had anyone to tell. Things are now starting to happen and I think we may be starting to rattle some cages.

If this is something you care about, please go to www.gopetition.com/petitions/prime-tv-on-freeview.html (www.gopetition.com), read the info and if it feels right to you, sign the petition. If not, no pressure.

Anyway, thanks for listening to the obnoxious new guy and sorry for barging in :o

Heh, yup, you got me. But, hey, at least it's public service spam, right?

As Kiwis, I think we have a culture of not rocking the boat. I think corporations know that and sometimes take advantage of the fact. I hope we can find a happy median of not being so laid-back that we get walked on and yet assertive without being rude.

I think Sky run a good business and do a fine job with Prime. But I think it's OK to tell them what we want without being apologetic.

Anyway, thanks for the support.

Bill.

767585 2009-04-22 13:23:00 It makes sense to have a free to air channel on freeview though

And glad I can help

767589 2009-04-23 05:03:00 Cheers matey I have signed too!

I don't have Freeview, but I do have Sky and don't think they should have it all their own way, especially as Sky is getting TVNZ 6 +7
The least they can do is make Prime available for Freeview.
