861012 2010-02-23 12:35:00 Hi,

I am looking at getting a laptop for university, and have narrowed it down to either the Gateway NV54-006 (2.20Ghz, Core2Duo, 4GB RAM, 512MB dedicated graphics) or the HP DV6-2143TX (2.13Ghz i3, 4GB RAM, 1GB dedicated graphics), both are the same price at $1600. Which would you recommend? Good/Bad things about either? I would mainly use it for either movies, videos, or games but also need to be able to run a few applications at once.

Also, any other suggestions at around the same price range would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

861014 2010-02-23 23:52:00 Any recommendations from those two brands? Would either the HP or the Gateway be much of a bad choice? stevenags (15639)

861017 2010-02-24 10:29:00 There are about 3 different models of Gateway laptops at Noel Lemmings, and my friend has recently bought one... I am fairly certain that we do get Gateway here in NZ stevenags (15639)
861018 2010-02-24 10:45:00 Used to. Gateway went bust in the US a few years ago. BUT, they maybe returning Speedy Gonzales (78)
861019 2010-02-24 11:00:00 I'd personally get a good ASUS or Toshiba as pctek mentioned. If you're spending $1600~ then you might as well get a good one that will give you a trouble free experience. Tried Dell? beeswax34 (63)
