| 768797 | 2009-04-27 02:42:00 | Hi Guys, I have had this dvd recorder for a while and can't find the solution to my problem. It is conected to a sky digital decoder and to a reasonably new HD TV with an HDMI cable. My problem is the picture is really bad quality, its very fuzzy and has a lot of static but when i turn the tv off and record something, turn the tv back on and play it back the quality is really really good. Ive tried 3 different HDMI cables and normal Red White and Yellow cables with no luck. The Sky decoder is on the other side of the room because the cable runs through the ceiling to a splitter which has an output by the tv. I never use to have this problem before i got the DVD Recorder. Any information would be really appreciated. |

Is it a standard Sky decoder? ie not MySkyHDi It sounds like you may have the Sky decoder connected to the TV via the aerial/coax and tuned in to a channel number, which is the worst picture quality. It may then be connected to the dvd recorder via composite yellow/red/white which is why you get a better picture from that. |

| 768799 | 2009-04-27 03:51:00 | the Sky decoder is a standard sky decoder and is connected with an standard aerial cable. The Sky is only plugged into the dvd recorder and the only output used on the dvd recorder is the HDMI cable. Hope this makes it clearer for you and thank you for the feedback, everything helps. |

Unplugging this doesn't affect the picture quality but thought i better mention it in case it affects it in another way. | lancew (14861) | ||
| 768801 | 2009-04-27 04:33:00 | Are you on satellite or VHF. I have a Sony RDR HX-950 DVD recorder exactly the same as yours but with a 250gb HD. I have it connected to Sky with no probems. :) |

| 768803 | 2009-04-27 05:54:00 | Before someone corrects me my above post should of been UHF. You should have the Sky decoder connected to the DVD recorder via the 3 RCA leads, red, white and yellow which gives you a far better signal than by connecting it via the aerial socket. :) |

| 768804 | 2009-04-27 06:35:00 | Doesn't your Sky decoder use SCART cables? One to your TV and one to your Sony HDD recorder. Mine does. Plus Aerial cable to Sky decoder to Sony Box to TV Plus mine also has RCA leads from Sony Box to TV |
