768570 2009-04-26 06:42:00 Just been reading on Tom's hardware about a new feature being incorporated into Win 7 that is an inbuilt virtualization of XP so that older legacy programs can still be run without having to have a dual boot. The down side is that it appears to not be available on Win 7 home.

You can read the article here (www.tomshardware.com)

To make it possible to run programs designed for the only halfway decent and stable OS they've ever managed to release?

I guess so....

768573 2009-04-26 07:22:00 Virtualisation isn't exactly new, but the way they've implemented it is quite smart.

Wonder if it'll be in the RC

768574 2009-04-26 07:34:00 As reported from many places :
Windows XP Mode will be offered as a free download only to users running Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise, the three top-priced editions of the new OS.It will not be shipped with the Windows 7 boxes.

But no doubt it wont take long to appear on various sites - if it installs on any other Version of W7 is another question - wait and See I spose. SCREEN SHOTS (www.winsupersite.com)

768578 2009-04-26 09:24:00 Heres an Interesting Thought to ponder over - from the original Article linked: (With the Download of XPM)

Microsoft will include a full license of Windows XP SP3 with every copy of Windows 7 --- While it will be embedded into XPM - BUT and will it show if you run something Like magical jelly bean , and install as a separate Install-- Just a thought mind you  ;)

I wonder whether the key will be tied to a particular version of XP - i.e. in the same way that some keys are tied to a particular OEM version?
