768062 2009-04-24 08:24:00 This is one for the mods.
When there are 2 threads running on the same topic, like the current ones re. North and South Island names, is there any way of merging them? Or perhaps terminating the later one?

Not that it really matters if there are 2 threads running at the same time. I mean one does have a poll which is a quick way of referencing what people think

768064 2009-04-24 21:46:00 We will merge threads when the same person creates two threads on the same problem.

You couldn't really merge two threads from different people in the chat forum, especially with many replies, as the merge slots the replies into chronological order. This means many of the replies would not make sense (be out of context) as they may not appear under the original post. Not that chat threads always make sense anyway ...

People tend to gravitate to one thread or the other when they are on similar topics anyway.
