| 861609 | 2010-02-26 01:43:00 | Hi, I find my 2 gb DDR 400 RAM is barely enough-- I get very slow, sic., deletion from deleting say, windows Live e mails that I do not want. My computer is very old - 6 years coming up, --I am using 3.06 CPU and a B4 machine, with 2gb DDR 400ram. Are 184 pin sticks likely to be the "older Ram" ( for this 6 year old ) as from apparently 200 odd pin sticks which are offered for sale, and if so can I swap the sticks thereby gaining a bit more speed? I have 4 X512 mb sticks and would I just pull one stick out and insert the 1 gb stick giving me 2.5gb ram-- or even buy 2 X 1 gb and yank two sticks out giving me 3 gb?---but will they be matched? ie recognise say a different brand RAM I am using W 7 Professional and am very happy with it, bar the slowness of deletion. Idealy I would like to replace this pooter and get dual core etc etc--but finance comes into the equation :confused: effie c |

| 861611 | 2010-02-26 02:06:00 | Yeah, I agree, 2gb is ample for everyday usage. I suspect the slowness is either a full drive, old IDE, fragmentation or just a full mailbox database | SolMiester (139) | ||
| 861612 | 2010-02-26 02:07:00 | And DDR is 184 pin not 200 pin (which is for laptops I think), so 200 pin wouldnt fit. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
