| 768926 | 2009-04-28 04:44:00 | Um, I have no idea if I like working in the medical field. SHould I get a degree in medicine then find out I don't? Alot of people do! :) which is partly the reason I cant justify spending money on uni education. That and im a hands on guy, not a thinker as such. Jimm, you won't just walk into a job to have a look around, people will only hire people who can actually do the work. But I do see where your coming from, I was in your position not long ago. I chose web design, basically at school I learnt the basic principals which I enjoyed doing so I spent 100's of hours on my own jsut messing with different coding and googling lots. Now I like to think im pretty ok at it all If you went down the web side of things book yourself into a night course in serverside scripts (ie PHP). Youl be suprised at how easy it is and if you enjoy doing it your onto something. It is really hard to get a half decent job in IT at the moment though. I gave up and decided to work for myself. |

| 768931 | 2009-04-28 05:09:00 | Get yourself a student copy of Autodesk Inventor (usa.autodesk.com). I played with that, and another one AutoCAD (used mainly for Architect Drawings, I was going to be one once). Its fairly straightforward to pickup if your willing to put the time and effort in. I did a course with CPIT that took us through the basics, available as a nightclass still I believe. |

| 768934 | 2009-04-28 06:00:00 | I don't know what I want to do because nobody has given me an opportunity to try and see if I like working in IT so a few years ago I got my first IT job . build systems to order, it was OK but nothing special . then i got a job selling computers in a shop . decided i hated that . the i got a job doing some windows admin . liked that but still nothing too special . got some unix skills . just playing in my own time . then I got a job as a unix admin . it rocks!!! it can take time for find the right job . start with help desk or basic dekstop repair . then see where the road leads you . |
