768175 2009-04-25 04:17:00  Those Tower advertisements are really puerile, pathetic, but well acted, especially the first ad. where the wife in profile glares at poor hubby.

Anyone notice what a long neck she has? :)

All the better to strangle the b****.

They are lame.
Like the other one - she wouldn't notice he'd organised the dishes? Maybe she wouldn't - in which case he's pretty sad hanging about for her to notice.

It sure doesn't encourage me to change insurance companies.

No ad does - its their reputations I go by.

768176 2009-04-25 04:22:00 TP - a small rather pedantic point - a midwife can be either sex - the wife part refers to the mother not the attendant Dally (6292)

Indeed that is so, and I can't for the moment think of an alternative :wub:confused:

The ads. must be good though if they arouse such passion ....

Interesting. Never new that. Just presumed it was a female only role. i wonder how sort after a male midwife would be.
Apparently there are 10 registered in NZ

768179 2009-04-25 07:15:00 I enjoy doing housework. You just need to give me the whole day, a dozen beers and loud music. This is one of the few times I enjoy bands like Soulfly. (e.g Jump the .... Up) the_bogan (9949)
768180 2009-04-25 23:20:00 The good old days haven't yet gone completely....

This morning we had the Farmers Mother's Day flier delivered...."Farmers Mother's Day something special for HER" ..it says on the front.

It is full of cooking utensils, kitchen ware, electric irons, vacuum cleaners, which just goes to show that the old standards are still there....a womans place is in the home, joyfully cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing mending, so laughing not weeping they'll go to their sweeping this mothers day :banana

Well done Terry - it's good to know from the lack of replies that there aren't any out and out feminists on this list (Despite the original post I am totally non sexist) - or are they just hiding from the backlash! (PS you need an apostrophe in Mother's Day - or is it Mothers' day? and if we're adhering to calssical punctuation should it have been P.S.?)

Perhaps we should defer to roddy_boy on decisions pertaining to apostrophes - he seems to be the Apostrophe Policeman around here.... :D

That sounds a very bad state to be in

It is useful to remember..."la plume de ma tante", my aunt's pen .... which is why it always takes nearly twice as long to say or write something in French.

Your point being...?

Also the German to English translation sites throw up far longer winded versions of things - if you can get a phrase they recognise - eg "I am totally non sexist" throws up diddly squat!
