yeah really trying to avoid g... in my room I get a very low signal with 24mbits... when it works.

do you have any portable phones which use 2.4 GHz? that would be the only reason 802.11g isnt working, the portable phone is either too close to the router or the computer. in fact 802.11b works fine using channel 8 on my old WIFI card on my even older laptop
