769526 2009-04-29 10:49:00 Noticed tonight that I've got a headlight out - a mate recommended I get a pair of Narva Arctic White bulbs as a replacement.

Has anyone used these, or something else they'd recommend?

769527 2009-04-29 11:28:00 I like those ones.

They look like those whiteish ones, generally found on flash european cars. They give a very harsh white light, I personally find it nicer than most factory bulbs to drive with, they do have a bit of a habit of temporarily blinding oncoming drivers if you forget to dip them though. :p

You can talk yourself into anything.

This site has good reasons why bulbs without the blue filters are better to see with which should be more important than how they are to look at. www.danielsternlighting.com

769529 2009-04-29 21:35:00 I had a headlight lamp on my Z900 which was yellowish and it stood out like dog balls to incoming traffic although that was during the day.
But I could never get a replacement with yellowish tinge after it burnt out.

769530 2009-04-30 04:32:00 Further to this, can anyone tell me the difference (if any) between Arctic White, and Arctic Blue bulbs?

(The first smart-arse who says "the colour" can give themselves an uppercut :annoyed:)

769531 2009-05-04 00:07:00 Ended up getting some Narva Blue Power bulbs - cost me $100, but they're fantastic . . . . nearly twice the light in terms of throw and width over the factory bulbs, and a noticeably whiter light too .

Highly recommended!

Bloody fiddly to fit though - Mazda headlights are obviously made for little J-spec hands, not my sausage fingers!!

Not just Mazda's mate. I'm having a bit of drama trying to replace the fuel pump in my Levin at the moment. I cannot see how they put it in there short of pulling the whole left guard off, or removing the engine and gearbox. :p

Theres no room for any sort of spanner with enough leverage, stupid thing. Will attack it again tonight, after drowning it in CRC.

769533 2009-05-04 00:32:00 What year's your Levin Wrat?

Yeah, while I was getting the righthand bulb out, the little piece of metal holding the wire clip that secures the bulb housing snapped - had to take the whole headlight assembly out to fix it, which meant popping the indicator out, pulling the grill off, and my mate heaving on the front bumper to bend it enough so I could slide the headlight out . . . . . . nearly had to take the bumper off!!

Then couldn't get the bloody thing back in . . . . . skin is starting to grow back on the knuckles! :p

769534 2009-05-04 01:35:00 Yeah, horrible things to work on. :(

Got a mate who's a mechanic, he never has more than half of his knuckles covered in skin at any one time.

It's a 1997.

:illogical Aren't Levin's EFI?? Would've thought the pump would be in the tank under the boot somewhere??
