770850 2009-05-04 06:58:00 Any good webservices with an app that'll allow me to sync files between 2 computers? I need it so that both computers won't need to be on-i.e sync to an online server.

I was thinking of using syncbackse along with my home ftp server but it i to complicating and would only be my last resort.

I know there's a few of these on the web, but I want one that members here recommend and have had experience with

Cheers

770851 2009-05-04 07:08:00 Have a look in the lastest PCword - on page 65, a couple from Microsoft and free .

Haven't tried them so cant vouch for them-- go on be a devil be the first to try :p

In case you dont have the mag Sync.live (sync.live.com/) and the other one Live Mesh (https:)

Edited: another one MS have is Skydrive (http://skydrive.live.com/) - I logged in the other day with my live account, and uploaded a couple of pictures as a test - worked perfectly, and they give you 25GB of free storage. You could access it from any PC as long as there are no restrictions on the PC of course.

770852 2009-05-04 09:01:00 Sync.live does n't sync to a web server-requires both computers to be on:(

Might try out Live Mesh but seems too complicated for my needs

Thanks

770854 2009-05-04 10:29:00 Hmmmm interesting Beeswax - I did say "Haven't tried them so cant vouch for them" but I have tried skydrive, and that worked fine.

One would hope that PCworld, before putting them in the Magazine would have tested them -- ????

Will give live Mesh a try on my workshop PC's tomorow.

770857 2009-05-05 03:33:00 Tried Live Mesh and it corrupted my graphics drivers!

Just loaded up MS mesh on W7, the PC is an old clunker - P4 3.0 - 1 GB RAM, with a top end FX5200 Graphic Card :banana Runs real nice - no graphic problem at all - Uploaded files easy.

Only problem I had was when I tried the remote desktop :( No Sence of Humor (www.imagef1.net.nz)

770858 2009-05-05 11:52:00 Ah, guess mileage varies then lol. Totally killed my GFX drivers when I installed it. Had to use System Restore to fix it all. beeswax34 (63)
