769567 2009-04-29 22:50:00 Well the day started off as normal........

ready to leave for work go out to shed open shed, jump in jeep.......... sigh, the kids left the interior lights on. i have a flat battery, panic i have 10 mins to get to work, i own no jumper leads, i ring work to explain.
i send kids over to neighbour for help..........they still in bed.

we decide to push jeep out of shed. forgetting lack of brakes with no power, and child in drivers seat panics.......

Jeep slowly glides silently out of shed................. onto tilting drive, then slowly gliides down the drive onto the road, and across the street over footpath and comes to rest with front wheels on road stuck in gutter, and back end a foot away from a trellis fence.......

the noise from the screaming and yelling was enormous......... and the thanks for the not going through the fence and taking out there house is enormous.
and also having no traffic going past or round the T junction intersection that i live on was amazing.

nerves are shot, abandoned jeep over footpath on street a bit, got a ride to work and school, and left poor jeep alone.......... my neighbour who we dragged out of bed is hoping to jump start it and move it for me.......

and i forgot to take a photo...

is this just another beetle moment or does this sort of nearly accident happen to others as well?

nothing is ever simple...............and everyone has had a great laugh....... and the thing that flashes before your eyes moment.......... definitely happened for me today.....:(

it can only get better cant it?

i think im sent to test life, not life to test me....:p

769568 2009-04-29 23:02:00 Great to hear everyone survived unscathed. You're lucky you don't live somewhere like central Auckland - imagine the chaos you would have caused. somebody (208)

769571 2009-04-29 23:31:00 Wow Beetle, unlucky but lucky with it as no harm was done. By the way, how's progress with the shed and the Bambina? This was becoming a saga we were all interested in. :):) Richard (739)

769573 2009-04-30 01:37:00 I heard this just the other day when it should have been the red wire, not the blue one:

"Did you see a white light when the bomb exploded?"

"Who'd be stupid enough to keep their eyes open in an explosion?"

"Well, DID you see anything?"

"Car parts: a Toyota door, a steering wheel, and things!"

Talk about doh-moments! :D

Main thing is learn from it. You had a lucky break. Think of the money you saved from NOT dinging 4WD and can now buy jumper leads and a battery charger.
My house is chaos in the morning as the kids leave everything to the last moment.
And my dragon is one of those just in time persons so if any minuscule thing goes wrong she is late and gets stressed out (well more stressed out than normal)
If I go to the airport I allow for everything including a nuclear strike so end up there 2 hours before flight.
Once on my motorbike I turned up at ferry at Wellington and the NZR man said you are cutting it fine buddy. I had made the earlier sailing than booked!

769575 2009-04-30 08:08:00 And I thought that beetles had the power (!) to generate sparks at any time, day or night. Alas, another fond illusion shattered.

Good that no flooding or other side effects occurred though.

769576 2009-04-30 08:27:00 nerves are shot

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and everyone has had a great laugh . . . . . . .

Sorry Beetle, I nearly fell off my chair laughing .
Nothing happened other than a stressful day and panicked kids, so it was kind of funny . . . . . . .

I've had an "interesting" week:

Monday - Ute gets fixed yet again . Steering rod, but just before it was due for it's appointment it decided to have it's water pump disintegrate too .
Luckily while halfway out of driveway and not in the middle of nowhere .

Get a letter scheduling new second hearing for Disputes about the chainsaw .
Thats a whole other story, rather interesting how thats developing . . . . .

Tuesday - pump noisy - husband dismantles and examines pump all morning, pump fine, check water level eventually - bore is dry - suspect sewerage digging guys .
Ring council, council rings sewerage digging guys, sewerage digging guys come to check, yes all their fault, they will arrange a tank meanwhile .
Tank arrives later - 3200 litre, :horrified tells us water guy will arrive later .
Water guy arrives after teatime .

Ah, water again at last . . . . . .

Today -:
Ordered laptop from certain supplier, noted during order process that they still hadn't changed my delivery address and it was still showing as Gore . No way for me to amend it in their system . I make a note on the order about it, and point out I have told them 3 times already .
CHeck back next day and sure enough its been sent to Gore still .
They arrange a redirections supposedly with Courierpost .
Chase Courierpost all day - they tell me that the redirection is actioned but they don't know where the item is and will ring me back . I go through this 3 times .
Ring Supplier finally and am told Courierpost have sorted it and it will be with me soon .
5 minutes before teatime get call from Invercargill Courierpost . Item was delivered to Gore and told adress doesn't exist anymore . She opened it and read my invoice - which had my phone number so she rings me . They were about to send it back to Auckland before she did that as no redirection order was given to them .

Check bank account - notice cheque banked the other day though the machine doesn't exist . Ring ASB, get told they have no record of it, can't find it - they will ring me back .

Get ph call from old friend who gives me some mysterious numbers and tells me to go to the local (Wyndham) post shop as there is a surprise for me .

She had gone to a PO to arrange this and as they are elderly and have terrible health, they had a number of dramas on the way including her partner having an angina attack and requiring emergency staff and machines and all sorts . She says its a - can't remember whats its called, I assume parcel . Never mind she says, all done and they are going to have a lie down .

So I go to local shop - get told I have to go to Gore .
Go to Gore, get told its a money transfer and I have to fill out form . Do that, form asks for name, address etc and numbers which turns out to be the Order number and pin number . No other info required on form .
Then get asked how much is it for? I have no idea and tell them so .
No, they won't give it to me then . Tell me I have to go home and find out .
Not likely .

Ring NZPost who says no, I don't need to know the amount .
Tell them I'm not driving back and they say they'll deposit it for me in my account .

Tomorrow - who knows?
