770626 2009-05-04 02:23:00 ...

Brought a Avermedia Volar X DVB-T USB tuner on Thursday last week, and man, you can tell the difference alright. FANTASTIC picture, on a monitor that supports HD. ...

I'm tempted to get one for myself, where did you buy it and how much?

770627 2009-05-04 02:34:00 $99 from down the road here, in Mt Eden. I walked there, since its only 10 mins walk from here. It maybe cheaper elsewhere.

Where are you?

According to pricespy (if its right), this (store.cbcnz.com) is in christchurch

And this (www.uec.co.nz) Glenfield. But this one says online only and no credit cards over the phone or the internet? And you cant pickup

Whats the point in being online then?

770630 2009-05-04 05:57:00 Quite so... I seem to have tried all things. My Pinnacle tuner only saves as a .ts file I have tried eveything with mux, demux on google, Nero, "Power whatever it was," Pinnacle, Ulead....and Uncle Tom Cobley and all!!

One day that bloke Someone will come up with a solution. I think that the TV companies are completely paranoid about anyone being able to edit HDTV. Unfortunately, a lot of innocent people have to pay the price of the pirates freebies. :crying :groan: :angry

Ken

PS if anyone wants to have a go to see if they have a program that will do it, I am happy to email a small HD captured file for them to try. Around 10MB or so.

Ken - I use Handbrake to convert a .ts file into something more usable. I am using the SVN1913 build, and I have successfully used it to convert TV2, TVNZ7, and TV3 ".ts" files recorded by DVBViewer into more usable formats (.mkv, and .avi). What's even better, is Handbrake is free.

770631 2009-05-04 05:59:00 THere was someone on Geekzone that came up with an elaborate ts muxing scheme where they managed to edit stuff, it it was way harder than just loading up a file in videoredo and chopping out the ads.

And Speedy, these program really do care about the sound scheme (HE-AAC-LC) since normally they have to demux, convert video and remux....if they don't understand what the sound is they can sometimes mux it back in raw, but generally will just drop the sound.

Yup - the HE-AAC codec used for FreeviewHD is very problematic, because very few programs understand it. I tried countless programs (free and trial versions - anything which cost money I didn't try), and finally found a particular build of Handbrake which would work (svn1913).

I also have the same problem, only with power cinema, which records in mpeg.

I emailed cyberlink but they said it was the only option :crying

Anyone use GBPVR?

I tried it but it wouldn't work with my tuner :(

770634 2009-05-04 09:04:00 You aren't using XP home, are you?
2k pro SP4 with NTFS formatted 465GB drive large LBA enabled :)
no 4 gig limit, as a few times i left the recorder going and it recorded over 8 gig worth of Mpeg (10+ hours) at one stage

it could also be the TVR software for the card.
