770427 2009-05-03 07:19:00 Yep.
You can say the same for the opposite theory too.

Well, no I wouldn't, actually.

Not only do I have a GP whose advice/opinions I trust, but I had a week in Dunedin Hospital last month & I found the "proper doctors" mostly talked good sense.

Seems sensible to stick with people who've actually gone through Medical School, surely?
They may not be perfect, but they sure beat the unqualified wannabe competition...

Back in the 1600's or 1700's there was a Hungarian doctor practising in Vienna that discovered doctors should not go from the autopsy room to the delivery room without disinfecting and it took 40 years for it to be accepted by other doctors throughout Europe.

770429 2009-05-03 14:37:00 OK......But what is the easiest way to clean off the canola oil residue. Regolar washing up liquid or washing M/c powder wont shift it. PJ Poppa John (284)
770430 2009-05-03 15:23:00 get some elbow grease into it. never hurts anyone.
use caustic soda if you have to... let it soak and scrub clean

cooking oil decreases in smoke point temperature if reused so watch your temperature and be prepared for smoke and/or fire if the oil exceeds its smoke point
although in saying that old oil adds a slight flavour to frying from previous frying or if reusing meat fat

770431 2009-05-03 19:48:00 A mix of baking soda and white vinegar, we use it as dishwasher powder too. Makes a fantastic cheap cleaner will get the exact quantities from SWMBO later if you require it. gary67 (56)
770432 2009-05-03 22:11:00 Have you tried oven cleaner spray? Usually works. Must admit though that I have resorted to the water blaster on occasion. Same with cleaning the barbecue (annually), a good degreaser and then a waterblast brings it up like new. Keep the water away from the piezo igniters though. Richard (739)

If the chip pan is aluminium it won't last long soaking in caustic.

Why would you want to remove canola oil residue ? It will only get oily the next time you use it

Do as the professionals do and just wipe the pan, a paper towel will suffice

true :o depends on whether this one is made from aluminium or (stainless) steel

770436 2009-05-04 21:05:00 I've found Canola oil a real bugger in an aluminium pan for frying eggs. It leaves a dirty brown stain, even, dare I say it, it's almost like plastic! It is very hard to remove even with a scouring pad. I find Cheffade so much cleaner and it seems to get hotter. Bryan (147)
