862885 2010-03-02 01:11:00 3 hrs downloading on dial-up, only to have it kicked at final few minutes....priceless. I understand not everyone can afford BB, however the Telecom home deals are now very good....How much time do you waste waiting for page loading...downloads etc...... SolMiester (139)
862886 2010-03-02 01:21:00 How old is your son? Laura (43)
862887 2010-03-02 01:29:00 This has become a bad habit with my son,
I'd be using the internet (dial up) and he would come home, turn on his computer and dial up which will cut my current connection off so his would be connected. .

1) Get broadband.

2) if that isn't physically possible, explain to son that if he does it again, you will confiscate his PC until he can find new accommodations.

862888 2010-03-02 02:03:00 I have a feeling it is a wind-up, not dial-up. PENTIUM (426)
862889 2010-03-02 06:26:00 Unplug the phone connection cable from your son's computer and make him ask for it when he wants to go on line. tutaenui (1724)

862891 2010-03-03 06:05:00 How much i'd love broadband but under the current circumstances it's impossible ($10 for dial up vs $50 to $60 for dial up just won't work at the moment).
Telling him to pay at least half is like trying to get blood out of a stone... getting him to move out is the same, it's 2 against 1 in this household. I went to advance settings but it only has the windows firewall there, nothing about letting other people connect to the network. I had changed dial up password but he still managed to cut my modem off, he just couldn't connect to the internet. It's not just the download thing.. it's just the fact of me using the internet and him coming in whenever he feels like it and dialing up his computer and cutting me off.

862893 2010-03-03 06:31:00 if it is a desktop take out his modem. If a laptop disable it or uninstall the drivers. Or just delete the connection settings. nedkelly (9059)
862894 2010-03-03 06:51:00 I would get someone to disconnect his phone extension. KarameaDave (15222)
