1450031 2018-05-27 21:14:00 Satya Nadella took charge of Microsoft four years ago .

Nadella, 50, is studious and measured . Under his command, Microsoft has changed too .
Employees carry copies of The Growth Mindset, a book by the psychologist Carol Dweck about constant improvement .

Twenty years ago this month, Microsoft - then the most powerful technology company in the world - was accused by the US government of exploiting its monopoly position in computer software to force people to use its own web browser .

When I ask if he sees parallels between the antitrust case of two decades ago and today's fears over Silicon Valley's power, he bristles somewhat, and even goes so far as to defend the Microsoft of 1998 against the "closed" practices of many tech companies today .

"I always make this case, which is if it was not for Microsoft's openness, the web wouldn't have happened . "

Nadella recently described privacy as a "human right" .

Piroska, as the only person I know of who has the ear of Mr Nadella, next time you're chatting, ask him what he intends doing about the appalling uselessness of their "help" desks.

Why, for example, two M$ help desk people between them tied up their lines for the best part of 2.5 hours trying to figure out why the recent W10 update rendered their flagship Outlook 2016 in Office 365 inoperable. Why it was I who stumbled on the cause which was the update had blanked a default response - their 2 help desk people not seeing it or even know about it. Why the update omitted it in the first place.

So rather than get his tits in a tangle over a 1998 Antitrust matter, suggest to him he would be better getting M$ focused on things that matter to its 2018 customer base.

 ... Mr Nadella
:devil ... Piroska

ha.
Its all about maximizing profit and market share (as expected) not maximizing help desk proficiency
Its not just MS, many companies outsource help desk's to the lowest cost options
The home user customer base if going to get less and less important for MS anyway. Thats not where the real money is.

"Nadella recently described privacy as a "human right".
And yet they take away that option, just so they can slurp up as much 'data' as possible.
