2018-06-03 21:36:00 | small market, long distance, freight costs for delivery around NZ. So they say. So how is it that many sellers overseas are able to send things to me way down here for free shipping? Yes, they most likely build the cost into their original sell price, but so, it's still dirt cheap for me. I bought a new turbo foot for my vacuum cleaner from the Netherlands, $48 inc shipping. Here $180. Mad.

2018-06-03 22:46:00 | Its NOT :D very Often we agree on something But this time it IS . Prices in NZ for some things are damn WAY over the top . Take some replacement parts for laptops -- The other week, got a Price for a persons Power Socket for their HP laptop ( from HP NZ) . To buy it in NZ was $75 . To import it from Aliexpress (exact same part - brand new) $15 to the door . Guess what I told HP to do ;) I didnt think we disagreed on much other than Win 10 where we are poles apart . :D Anyway, just to go with your posts about your Vacuum Cleaner Bags and Hewlett Packard Power Socket how about this . Wife goes to buy some single sheets for a spare bed and finds they are $129 . 99 at Briscoes . She haggles about the price and gets them for $29:00! Ok, she thinks she has done well, but you cant tell me that Briscoes were selling at a huge loss . The Sheets were manufactured in China, so Im guessing that we could have got 5 pair from AliExpress delivered to our door . :annoyed: 8867

2018-06-03 23:41:00 | Lots of the retailers are claiming people don't pay gst on some imported goods. Its Not the gst thats raising prices, its something else. There was an article on Stuff a short while ago. One of the comments was : I recently built a new house. All of the high end goods, lighting etc came from Europe.....and I paid GST. One example, I have a $15,000 dollar oven in my home. That is what is retails for here. Quite a common brand. European manufactured. I purchased it for 1600 Euro direct from a retailer in Europe, and once landed, freight, insurance, and GST was paid, the landed cost was around $3800. Source: amazon-tax-what-it-means-for-online-shopping (www.stuff.co.nz) I usually get LCD panels from Overseas as well, takes a few weeks to get here, but they are fraction of the price, all brand New the exact same product. Picked up a Brand new USB 2.0 External CD DVD Combo CD-RW Drive Burner Writer for $20 landed, here they are roughly double + the price. Some are certainly making a good profit along the way.

2018-06-04 03:35:00 | We get these spammy-ish mailorder catalogs, Innovations or something. They had a battery tester in there listed for around $12 + postage, the exact same thing is available on Ali for US$1.76 shipped. | Beav (17610) | |

They are always on special at half price at Briscoes, Or Farmers or Spotlight or Bed Bath & Beyond. I always wait till they are, then buy. |
