1450087 2018-06-01 10:27:00 I imagine the camera based one is working a bit like the blood oxygenation monitors they put on your fingertip at hospital.

Essentially it'll either be looking for changes in colour (particularly red) in the light that passes through your fingertip, or may be watching for a pulsing change in the area of contact with the cameras glass surface. I'd aim to place only the very tip of the finger over the camera lens, not the bulk of the finger which will have a boney skeleton to impede the transillumination (if that is indeed how it is worked).

1450088 2018-06-02 00:49:00 All sorted. Got one from EMAX in Ellerslie Auckland. $26.94 with freight. Same type as this rest home, clips on a finger. My pulse rate is all over the place, between 40 & 48 mostly & up to 60 beats at best. Maybe I am ready or a fPacemaker. Anybody wearing one? PJ Poppa John (284)
1450089 2018-06-02 03:18:00 Poppa John,

Save yourself all the bother and possible $$!

Get a time keeper with a seconds hand, find the artery beside your adams-apple and hold a finger on it for 15 seconds counting the beats. Multiply by four, solution solved:clap

That is what I have been doing, both at wrist & inside elbow. The beat is so erratic it is hard to tell if it is actually a beat. I get a lot of mis beats which is normal for me for years. PJ

Nothing to worry about then. :)

Seriously though my best advice would be to stay active, be social, and let the doctor worry about your health. Probably what your doing already looking at all your posts.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Stay active...I try. Be Social...I do. The Doctor...I do. As Rest Homes go I would reccommend this one highly. Staff are very observant, if you look as if you are struggling they are there quickly. On a good day I can use my Wheelie Walker, on a bad day I use my wheelchair. My being paraplegic has me dragging a dead leg to walk & gets very tiring after a few days. But Hey...I can still get around, stil read, still computerise (!!), still talk to & read PF1. What more do I need? PJ

1450093 2018-06-02 23:46:00 Sounds as though you're doing all the right things, PJ. Succumbing to "poor me" admits defeat - and that's far from the Poppa John we all know. Continue to stay positive in the face of all that life is throwing at you.

All the bestest.

PJYour doctor should be monitoring your heart health. Have you discussed this with your doctor? It can make a good difference to your general well-being if you need one. Jen (38)
1450095 2018-06-03 03:03:00 The staff come round weekly to take our Vital Signs regularly. BP, Pulse, Oxygen in the blood, Temp etc. Any new problems gets you on the Doctors weekly rounds. What I am is what I am & nowt will change that.

Did you ever Star Trek' Dr Bone with his blue cube that he ran over a patient to diagnose a problem? That's what we need. And that bed with the cover over it that fixes problems? PJ
