| 1449742 | 2018-05-22 10:36:00 | Why am I not surprised that as soon as Christchurch start thinking about a new sports stadium to replace the earthquake damaged Lancaster park, who starts leaping up and down squeaking Me 2, Me 2, Pick me, Pick me. Auckland who already have two or three reasonable sized stadia. Wow, what surprise!!! |

After all it is real easy to spend other peoples money. | CliveM (6007) | ||

It would probably have cost two thirds of what it would now, or maybe even less than that. The way things are at the moment, it doesn't seem like a very good time to try and do it. |

Well , Ak PAID for those with it own money : RATES Perhaps if a stadium was so damn important to CHCH, then CHCH sould pay for it with THEIR RATES dont blame Ak . Stop whining and reach into your own pocket . btw, Ak has 2 old run down stadiums , and a shiny new white elephant stadium that should never have been built and is costing a fortune just to keep. Ak IS NOT getting another stadium. Every 10 years or so Ak wastes a $million so doing a study and then deciding we cant afford it. Why the hell do sports fans think its OK to bankrupt their city for something that only 10,000 fans will use once a week if that. Yes , bankrupt. So many city councils have run up so much debt allready , they honestly have so much debt there is zero chance of paying it off. So lets add to that debt another $100Million++ . Really good decision for the benefit of so few Stop building white elephants that cities cant afford. Fix the sewers and drains first fix the hospitals first |

| 1449750 | 2018-05-23 22:23:00 | Freeloading Dorklanders Oh please given the number of taxpayers in Ak, compared to any other city or small town... so where do you honestly think a huge portion of tax is coming from. Yes, the tax that pays for the CHCH rebuild comes from Ak (partly) The money to build SI roads etc come party from Ak Ak taxpayers are subsidising the rest of the country. |

Great, probably right what you said. Just don't do the hand wringing about how hard done by Aucklanders are when we all contribute to every part of the country that needs I it. You lot just have the misfortune to have such a large number living in such a prick of a place where past denials by ratepayers have caused a dysfunctional mess! Ken (PS. I was born and spent most of my first 25 years there before I escaped:)) |
